Bridging Societal Gaps: Navigating Convictions in a Multifaceted World
Our Story
January 2023 found us cramped up in a corner of the London Subway with thoughts racing about as fast as the tube itself. We had just left a conference that left us with more open questions than answers, and more angles to a societal issue than any of us would have guessed the day prior.
The clearest voice that day was the one on the loudspeaker reminding everyone to “Mind the Gap!” while stepping onto the platform. Shouldn’t the same be true for the paths we take to navigate our own convictions, given how unconsciously we adopt the lenses we look at the world through, given how much we don’t know what we don’t know.
All too often, we have found ourselves in different rooms over the course of a standard day or even a week, each with an intellectual landscape that is a world of its own. Not only are most places we inhibit, be it internally or externally, echo chambers, but they are also quite insular in terms of who they let in. Rightly or wrongly, we are convinced opting out of spaces and mental tracks leaves us worse off than if we invite some degree of questioning.
This site reflects the reality of occupying multiple worlds at once and the honest attempt to hold them within, to look at a thing a hundred times before saying we looked at it once. The aim is to be able to differentiate the limits of the various spaces in society while keeping them close enough to be able to engage with them. A lifetime of navigating polar realities can wind us up in knots and here is where we try to untangle it.
